Coral Bay, part 1

2 April 2012

April 1st.

Just outside Carnarvon, the guy at the petrol station lets me use his shaded backyard for me to do my service. Right, so what did Jeff tell me ? Ah yeah : drain the oil (don’t worry I’m not dumping 10l of black oil on the ground, I have a container, which I got from a guy at Denham), change the filter, add 10L fresh oil, run the engine for 1min then add another 1L as the filter is now full. Okay, so I get burning hot oil on my hand, the shit pours down for what seems an eternity, and I should have bought a bloody funnel !

Thankfully, petrol stations have funnels I can borrow, and even oil drums for me to dump my old oil in. Job done in 25min, I also cleaned the air filter and will change the fuel filter at next service, at 355.000km.
It’s a mess but it saves money to service your car yourself.

Back on the highway to Coral Bay, which is both the name of the little town, well more like a resort, and the bay itself. Further north, is Exmouth, which isn’t worth anything at all, and I drove 300km to find that out…
So, at Coral Bay, no free camping either but coincidence, I2 meet Anthony and Isabelle again, so we share a few beers in the evening.

Tomorrow, early rise : whale shark cruise !!!

Distance today : 545km, total: 8283km.
