Shark Bay, part 3
2 April 2012
March 30th (I’ll start dating these posts because a year from now I’ll be lost :))
It was very windy last night, but the sunrise was just epic. I had parked the car just so the first light would enter the truck from the barn door, and hit me in the face. Awesome.
Quick breakfast, the stove is still playing up, I think it’s the regulator, I’ll have to look into that when I get the chance today.
The road to Cape Peron and Skipjack Point is very bumpy and sandy but Troopy couldn’t care less. It’s a great spot to have a swim up there, so I decide to stop again and spend some time on the beach at Bottle Bay, read my book, swim some more, just great, especially when you’re absolutely alone, and I mean, absolutely. There’s no one on that huge beach, which is probably 5km long, white white sand, blue water, the sun, and that’s it.
I love it.
Anyways, time to head to Monkey Mia to meet Lia, a CouchSurfer who’s kind enough to show me around, as she actually works there. How cool is that. We said we’d only have coffee but she invited me to surf at her place with her 20yo son so, even better. I spend the afternoon lying on the beach, and while I read my book, four dolphins just pass by… Of course they’re on the part you’re not allowed to swim so it’s eyes only, but still, that’s just neat !
Off to Lia’s and we start dinner at six, then talk so much that her son Jack keeps popping his head of of his room “muuum, I’m hungry” and we end up eating at 10PM :D. Such cool conversation though. She’s been everywhere and we just exchange our opinions on just about anything. That’s CouchSurfing for you.
Distance today: 128km, total: 7346km.
