23 February 2012 – All but one paperwork is done, all for NSW and ACT anyways. I have all the info I need on each visa, my vaccines are all done, I only need booster shots in Darwin, the car is ready, except for the tyres, so… all trip planning is done really.

I’m hanging about in Sydney til next Monday, then a week in Melbourne to get the Carnet de Passage and my licence, next WE with Jeff and the SCS crew, then off.

Two years. This is it. This is now. Soon.

21 February 2012 – Glorious morning, million dollar view. The sun rises slowly on the Lost City, and the night’s mist gives an eerie look to the place. I just love it. Coffee and cereal, watching the sun rising. Doesn’t get any better than that.

9AM, time to go. I’m heading north to the Glowworm Tunnel, about 30k from here. Well it rained heavily last night so the track is now muddy as, but Troopy gets through it like it’s the Nepean highway. I reach the Wollemi National Park and start walking to the tunnel. The walk gets me through a small stream to the tunnel, which was dug almost a century ago to allow the railway to Newnes, on the other side. Now the tunnel is dark as ever, and populated by thousands of glowworm which makes it look like a starlit sky.

18 February 2012 – I spent a week in Sydney and, well, as much as I am very happy to have caught up with Jonathan and Maelle, I couldn’t wait to get out of town.

So after five days of paperwork, forums, embassies and consulates, after I had lost the one and only set of keys for the apartment, which got us a night in a backpackers downtown, after we celebrated Jon’s 31st birthday, I hit the road.
