March 30th (I’ll start dating these posts because a year from now I’ll be lost :))
It was very windy last night, but the sunrise was just epic. I had parked the car just so the first light would enter the truck from the barn door, and hit me in the face. Awesome.
Quick breakfast, the stove is still playing up, I think it’s the regulator, I’ll have to look into that when I get the chance today.
2 April 2012 – After a swim and a quick brekkie to get away from the mozzies, I make my way to Thunder Bay, on the other side of the rock. It’s yet more sand dunes to get there but definitely worth the hassle. It is probably low tide when I get there because there isn’t a great deal of blowing through the holes, but through the few cracks on this massive overhang, you can hear (and feel) the wind blowing, it’s like the earth is breathing. Freaky.

29 March 2012 – At Hamelin station, I get the bits of information I needed : is there a permit entry to get to Steep Point, and where do I get it from ? Also, where can I find a map of the Useless Loop ?
The Useless Loop is the name if the track that leads from the Denham-Hamelin road to Steep Point, it’s a one hour straight on unsealed road, very dusty, then turn right and drive two more hours on 20psi on sand dunes and beaches to reach to Westernmost point of the Country. I found it hard to believe when the Hamelin Station caretaked told me it’s a six hours drive and return to the cliff but she wasn’t lying.
