Indonesian Visa

19 January 2012 – There is a Consulate of Indonesia in Melbourne, while the Embassy is in Canberra.  The visa takes approximately two weeks to process, they have to send a copy of my passport to their Embassy in Belgium to check whether I’m a criminal and what not.  The thing is it will be valid for three months once the application has been lodged, so that’s not good for me.  Fortunately there is another Consulate (apparently the only one in town) in Darwin, so I can lodge the application from there while I visit Kakadu for instance.

The visa itself is a sixty days visa, and costs roughly sixty bucks.  I will need to give them a letter along with the application form, saying that I’m self-sufficient, can look after myself and understand the Indonesian healthcare won’t support me, and the itinerary.

Simple.  Once the visa has been granted, it’s all good, I can show up at the Indo-Timor border and keep driving. 🙂
