We must be the only two in the whole park, it’s just perfect. The walk takes us through the actual Bungles, which are massive domes about 200m tall and as wide as a skyscraper. At the end of the canyon, a superb gorge with a small pond. The gorge was formed when it used to be a waterfall, it must have been roaring with power with the water rushing down and carving this great split in the mountains. Now it’s a very quiet spot, the only sound are the birds up above and the few fishes in the pond. Peaceful.

Well we could have stayed for hours here, with the shade and the cool freshness from the water but we must leave the park. On the way out, a man asks for our help with his puncture. His spare tyre is as flat as the punctured one, lucky for him I have an air compressor.

Back at Halls Creek to buy some groceries, get on the Internet to do our banking etc and we get to tonight’s destination, Saw Pitt. The campsite is 50km east of town, we pass through the Old Halls Creek Village and reach the riverbend where we’ll spend the night.

Splendid little creek, all alone, far from anything. We enjoy the river as much as we can, this is going to be our last bath for at least a month, tomorrow we start the Tanami.

Distance today: 248km, total: 12872km.

17 April 2012 April 16th After we pack up, we headed off to the last spot on the camp, Picaninny Creek.
